Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meal preparation and food handling, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation. This role requires a commitment to food safety and cleanliness in the kitchen while working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present sushi dishes according to the restaurant's recipes and standards.
- Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients used in meal preparation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and sushi station.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during peak hours.
- Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi items or seasonal specials.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management.
- Train junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques when necessary.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in meal preparation.
- Familiarity with various types of fish, seafood, and traditional Japanese ingredients.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- A passion for culinary arts, particularly in Japanese cuisine.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
