Position Summary:
The Community Support Worker creates and facilitates cultural, educational and recreational opportunities for the youth residing at NOVA.
Responsibilities:
As a Community Support Worker, you will:

Build positive, supportive relationships with youth

Mentor and coach youth in communication, conflict resolution, self-advocacy, and daily living skills

Plan and facilitate engaging life skills, recreational, educational, and cultural activities
-
Support youth in achieving personal goals and maintaining healthy routines
-
Complete assessments, documentation, referrals, and daily case notes
-
Help maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment
-
Transport youth during community outings and appointments
-
Collaborate with community partners, guardians, and support professionals
-
Participate in an on-call rotation and contribute to a positive team environment
Qualifications / Skills:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting youth and creating meaningful connections within a residential setting. Ideal candidates will have:

Diploma or Degree in Human Services or a related field

1–2 years of experience working with youth, preferably in residential or community-based programs
-
Knowledge of addictions, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and strength-based approaches
-
Experience facilitating groups, recreational programming, or life skills activities
-
Strong communication, relationship-building, and conflict resolution skills
-
Ability to work independently, collaboratively within a team, and effectively respond to crisis situations

General computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
-
Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
-
Suicide Intervention and/or Crisis Prevention training is considered an asset
-
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, clean Driver’s Abstract, reliable vehicle, and $2 million liability insurance

Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check

Conditions of Employment:

This position operates Monday through Friday - 40 hours per week. There is flexibility in the schedule dependent on youth recreation/life skills events.

The position requires frequent standing, walking up and down stairs, and occasional lifting.

The successful candidate will need a reliable vehicle and $2 million liability insurance.

In addition, this position is part of an on-call rotation approximately every 6 weeks.

The successful candidate will need a clear child intervention check, criminal record check, and a valid First Aid Certificate upon employment start date.

The salary range for this position is $53,060.40 to $60,650.40 annually.
