Jami and Jam Jam Studio is a creative retail and workshop space located in downtown Toronto. We offer hands on workshops, walk in activities, curated lifestyle products, and private events.
We are looking for a creative, friendly, and reliable Part Time Creative Studio Assistant to join our team. This is a flexible, hands on role that includes workshop instruction and support, social media content creation, walk in activity support, retail assistance, customer service, and studio operations.
The focus of the role may shift depending on the needs of the studio each day. Some days may involve teaching workshops and supporting guests, while other days may involve creating content, helping with retail, assisting walk in customers, preparing materials, or keeping the space organized.
This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys creative activities, content creation, customer service, and working in a small business environment where each day can look a little different.
Responsibilities
Workshop Instruction and Support
- Learn how to teach and assist our studio workshops
- Guide guests through creative activities in a clear, friendly, and patient way
- Prepare materials, tools, templates, and supplies before workshops
- Help manage the flow, timing, and organization of each class
- Support guests during the workshop and answer questions as needed
- Clean and reset the workspace after workshops
- Assist with private events, birthday parties, group bookings, and corporate events
Social Media and Content Creation
- Create photo and video content for Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms
- Capture workshops, walk in activities, retail products, customer creations, studio details, and behind the scenes moments
- Film short form videos for Reels and TikTok
- Assist with editing short videos and preparing content for posting
- Help plan content ideas based on workshops, new products, activities, promotions, and seasonal moments
- Write or assist with short captions, story text, and promotional copy
- Help maintain a consistent visual style and brand voice for Jami and Jam Jam Studio
- Stay aware of social media trends that could naturally fit the studio
- Organize photos, videos, and content files for future use
Walk In Activity Support
- Welcome walk in guests and explain available activities
- Help guests choose their activity, materials, and design options
- Guide guests through the activity when needed
- Prepare, restock, and reset walk in activity stations
- Keep supplies organized and easy for guests to use
Retail and Future Online Shop Support
- Assist customers with browsing and purchases
- Operate the POS system after training
- Help with product display, merchandising, restocking, and inventory organization
- Keep the retail area clean, organized, and visually presentable
- Help receive, organize, price, and label products
- Maintain basic product knowledge for items sold in the shop
- Assist with online shop setup and product uploads if needed in the future
- Help organize product photos, descriptions, prices, and inventory details for potential online sales
- Support online order preparation and packing if online sales become available
Customer Service and Studio Operations
- Answer customer questions in person, by email, and through social media
- Help explain workshop options, pricing, booking details, and walk in activities
- Communicate with customers in a warm, professional, and helpful way
- Keep the studio clean, tidy, and welcoming throughout the day
- Help open and close the studio when scheduled
- Organize supplies, tools, packaging, materials, and storage areas
- Help with cleaning, table setup, washing tools, and general reset
- Learn and prepare drinks for guests when needed
- Support day to day tasks that come up in a small creative business
Requirements
- Friendly, patient, and comfortable teaching or guiding guests
- Creative, organized, and detail oriented
- Comfortable creating content for Instagram and TikTok
- Able to take clear photos and short videos
- Able or willing to edit short form video content
- Strong attention to detail and a good eye for visuals
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible
- Able to multitask in a studio environment
- Able to work independently during quieter hours
- Interested in workshops, crafts, retail, lifestyle products, design, or social media
- Willing to learn workshop steps, product details, POS system, drink preparation, and studio procedures
- Previous experience in teaching, workshops, customer service, retail, hospitality, social media, or content creation is an asset
- Weekend availability is required
- Some weekday availability is preferred
Pay: From $17.60 per hour
