Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Grocery Manager to oversee daily store operations, ensure excellent customer service, and lead a team toward achieving sales and operational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, retail management experience, and a comprehensive understanding of merchandising, pricing, and inventory control. This role requires a proactive approach to store management, team supervision, and strategic planning to maintain a high-performing grocery environment.
Duties
- Lead and supervise store staff, including recruiting, training, and developing team members to ensure excellent performance and customer service.
- Manage daily store operations, including merchandising, inventory purchasing, pricing strategies, and sales management.
- Oversee POS systems, cashiering activities, and cash handling procedures to ensure accuracy and security.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase store visibility and sales.
- Monitor store budgets, perform bookkeeping tasks, and manage payroll processing efficiently.
- Coordinate with suppliers for purchasing and procurement activities; negotiate favorable terms to optimize inventory levels.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations; maintain cleanliness and organization of the store environment.
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints promptly, and foster positive relationships with shoppers.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends; adjust merchandising plans accordingly to maximize profitability.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, updates, and training opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven supervisory or managerial experience in retail or grocery environments.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, bookkeeping, and basic math skills.
- Experience in merchandising, pricing strategies, sales management, and marketing initiatives.
- Knowledge of budgeting, payroll processing, recruiting, training & development practices.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail; time management expertise is essential.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced retail setting while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Familiarity with administrative tasks such as recordkeeping and phone etiquette is preferred.
