Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network by designing and building the software, hardware and processes that enable our customers to get what they want, when they want it. We put innovation into action, working alongside our employees in the FCs to move billions of customer orders through our Fulfillment Centers globally. As part of this vision, AFT Quality's Perceptive Fulfillment Foundations division builds, deploys, and maintains several CV systems like Omniscan, AFEX3, CVAP, Metis, Thea, VBI, and IDT. The deployment scale of these systems is in the order of a few hundred every year. These systems provide several PB of data from various FCs worldwide. This data is critical to generate foundational insights that facilitate downstream business specific decision making of fulfillment operations for various process paths across FTR. PF2 is responsible for software deployment and maintenance support of these systems globally across NA, EU, and FE.
We are seeking a Software Support Engineer. This role will use their technical skills to provide high quality support for various PF2 computer vision systems and maintain their software and its uptime across sites world wide. The role will support over 5+ vision and measurement systems including new systems going to GA. The SE will troubleshoot and solve problems that do not have defined SOPs. They will create SOPs and processes where needed and work closely with various stakeholders including RME, ACES, RDPI, TD-SI among others.
Key job responsibilities
- Provide resolution support of incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting tasks, with responsibilities covering multiple systems, features and services.
- Work on operations and maintenance driven tasks including coding where needed.
- Software deployment support in staging and production environments across multiple systems including some Tier-1 systems.
- Develop tools to aid operations and maintenance
- Work with engineering team for taking over active issues and creating a team specific knowledge base and skill set.
- Work to streamline the SOPs, automate operations to reduce engineering burden around device maintenance.
A day in the life
- Handle time sensitive deployments across NA, EU, and FE.
- Handle issue resolution around device maintenance.
- Work with engineering teams to surface operational issues for feature prioritization.
- Work with deployment teams both internal to AFT Quality and across various FCs.
This role requires flexibility to support global operations across multiple time zones. The successful candidate must be available to adjust their schedule as business needs require, including:
- Supporting North American time zones (Eastern Time through Pacific Time)
- Supporting European time zones when needed
- Participating in worldwide deployment activities, which may occur outside standard business hours

- 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience
- Experience scripting in modern program languages
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Experience in software development
- Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development
- Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software RAID
- Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
