Communications Coordinator
The Opportunity
The C.D. Howe Institute is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support its communications efforts. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Communications Coordinator will provide internal and external communications support with a primary focus on writing communications materials, assisting with social media content, and website updates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft social media content and assist with the management of the Institute’s social media channels (LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X).
- Monitor social media performance, highlighting any key trends and observations, and help safeguard and strengthen the Institute’s reputation.
- Develop and support the creation of videos, graphics, infographics, podcasts and other visual content to help promote the Institute’s research, using established guidelines, team coordination and artificial intelligence.
- Write and distribute news releases, backgrounders and other materials for research publication releases and major announcements to media.
- Serve as secondary point of contact for media outreach and communications, coordinating and facilitating interviews with experts, fellows and authors.
- Support the drafting and editing of the Institute’s Weekly Roundup newsletter in Pardot.
- Assist with development of annual reports, event materials, newsletter campaigns, and other communications materials.
- Edit blog posts and prepare them for posting to our website.
- Assist with website updates, including uploading content, managing profiles and other changes as required.
Qualifications:
- Interest in Canadian policy issues, with a foundational understanding of Canadian economics, history, politics, and governance.
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, communications, journalism or related fields or recognized equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or journalism.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong commitment to accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite of applications, and Adobe Express.
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress), and social media channels (e.g., scheduling and monitoring engagement).
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

The expected annual base salary range for this position is $55,000–$65,000 CAD.
The final base salary offered will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience, expertise, and qualifications.
