POSITION PURPOSE
The Maintenance Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Maintenance Manager in keeping production and facility equipment operating efficiently. This role requires hands-on assistance with repairs, maintenance, and safety compliance while ensuring a clean and organized work environment. The Maintenance Assistant will work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager to help maintain equipment reliability and workplace safety.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist with routine mechanical maintenance and basic troubleshooting of production equipment.
2. Support emergency and scheduled repairs by providing necessary tools and assistance to the Maintenance Manager.
3. Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks as directed.
4. Read and follow equipment manuals and maintenance work orders to support repair tasks.
5. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to assist in maintenance duties.
6. Monitor equipment for signs of wear or malfunction and report issues to the Maintenance Manager.
7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance work area.
8. Assist in keeping an inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
9. Follow all company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
10. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or management.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Able to work off-hours, weekends or additional times if required.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. periodically.
- Extended periods of climbing, standing, bending and walking.
- Able to stand/walk the majority of the day.
- Able to safely work from heights, if needed.
- Hand and arm dexterity to make adjustments to equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed high school diploma required; additional training or certification in office systems and post-secondary education are considered assets.
- 1–2 years of experience working in maintenance, auto mechanical, or technical roles would be considered an asset.
- Strong relationship management, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to build trust and follow through on commitments.
- Intermediate to advanced literacy, writing, arithmetic, organizational, and technical skills with strong attention to detail and visual acuity.
- Knowledge of hazard prevention practices and commitment to maintaining all required Health and Safety training in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ability to safely use and maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in good condition.
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude, reliability, punctuality, integrity, and the ability to work independently while remaining self-motivated and team-oriented.
- Able to manage deadlines, handle stressful situations professionally, and travel for offsite training when required.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
