Wascana FC is a Saskatchewan Soccer Association–approved, non-profit youth soccer academy built around standards, structure, and long-term player development. We don't chase short-term wins and we don't run chaotic sessions — we build players properly: technically, mentally, and physically.
We're hiring a mix of aspiring and experienced coaches who share that mindset, to work with players ages 3–13. Based on your experience and certifications, you'll be placed as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach, with pay reflecting that placement.
Who We're Looking For
This role is a good fit if you:
- Care about doing things the right way, not the easy way
- Value structure, standards, and consistency
- Are open to feedback and accountability
- Want to improve as a coach, not just collect hours
If you're looking for casual coaching with no expectations, this isn't the right fit.
What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver structured, age-appropriate sessions following our Technical Director's curriculum
- Track player development and attendance
- Set standards for players (and assistant coaches, if in a Lead role)
- Set up and take down field equipment (cones, nets, balls) with help from volunteers
- Communicate clearly and professionally with players, parents, and fellow coaches
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for players and families
- Represent Wascana FC's culture on and off the field
Schedule
- Two training sessions per week: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00–7:00 PM
- One match day per weekend (typically Saturday, 9:00–10:00 AM), one to two times per month
- Additional hours available for the right candidate
- Season extension available: top-performing, dedicated coaches will be offered the opportunity to continue into our Winter Season (October–March)
Requirements (Mandatory)
- Previous youth soccer coaching experience
- Soccer playing background (club or competitive)
- At least one coaching certification: Active Start, FUNdamentals, Learn to Train, Soccer for Life, or C Diploma
- Respect in Sport certification
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (CRC-VSC)
Preferred
- Canada Soccer Learn to Train and/or Soccer for Life certifications
- Previous club or academy coaching experience (for Lead Coach placement)
- Comfort leading groups and assistant coaches (for Lead Coach placement)
Certifications are a strong plus, but mindset, reliability, and standards matter more.
Non-Negotiables
- Arrive 15–20 minutes early to every session
- High energy, clear communication, and professionalism
- Ability to receive feedback without defensiveness
- Consistent attendance and reliability
- Respect for players, parents, and teammates
If punctuality, accountability, or structure are a struggle for you, this won't be a good fit.
What We Offer
- Paid position — $20–$30/hour based on experience and qualifications
- Consistent weekly hours, with potential extension into the Winter Season (Oct–March) for dedicated coaches
- Clear expectations and structure
- Opportunity to grow into leadership roles
- Mentorship within a serious development environment, working closely with our Technical Director
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
