The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator will be responsible for supporting a wide range of program specific work integrated learning activities, including the Cooperative Education Program, for a diverse population of undergraduate and Masters student in the Alberta School of Business.
Reporting to the Work Integrated Learning Programs Lead, this position works independently and collaboratively to contribute to the goals of the Business Cooperative Education Program and other Work Integrated Learning initiatives.

Work extensively with students in all areas of career development and recruitment preparation during one one-on-one consultation, including resume and cover letter reviews, providing advice on interviews and career planning.

Support career development initiatives throughout the year, including workshops and other events for Co-op and Masters internship students.

Support the development and maintenance of online Co-op/WIL career development training.

Advise prospective Co-op students of Co-op admission requirements, benefits of participating in Co-op, and respond to program inquiries.

Assist in co-op program promotion and provide support for information sessions.

Assess Co-op applications for admission and facilitate the admissions process.
-
Maintain the Co-op application form and student data related to admissions in applicable systems, and provide backup for admissions data management in Orbis and Campus Solutions.

Schedule and conduct approximately 100 Co-op site visits per year. Assess the student’s professional performance and learning, and make recommendations to students to enhance performance and strive for continuous improvement during the work term.

Identify work term situations that may be problematic or require conflict resolution and escalate to the assigned WIL Officer.

Serves as secondary for front desk coverage, alongside the CWIL Programs Support Coordinator.

Participate in Co-op/WIL initiatives throughout the year as they relate to supporting students and program services.

Assist with data collection, data analysis, and preparing reports as needed.

Actively seek opportunities to stay informed of trends in the fields of Co-op and WIL and utilize this knowledge towards continuous improvement of the Co-op program and WIL opportunities.

Undergraduate Degree required. Bachelor of Commerce degree preferred; but any degree emphasizing HR, management, communication or other similar program may be considered.

A minimum of 1-2 years of related progressive work experience that demonstrates experience in Cooperative Education/WIL or Human Resources is required.

Familiarity with the post-secondary environment and preferably the University of Alberta.

Knowledge of Business and its various specializations, particularly within the context of careers and employment, is an asset.

Proven ability to provide guidance, mentorship and coaching to adult learners.

Ability to counsel students on their career development.

Apply judgment in complex situations to refer students to appropriate services or units as required.

Demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships and to work collegially with various stakeholders to achieve goals (within and outside of the campus community).

Strong customer service skills and experience balance the competing needs of diverse stakeholders.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal, including presentation skills) with an understanding of equity, diversity and inclusiveness philosophy.

High degree of attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize work in a deadline-driven environment.
