Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cabling Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various cabling systems within commercial and industrial environments. This role offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge telecommunications and networking infrastructure, supporting critical communication systems. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of Ethernet, computer networking, and telecommunication systems, along with mechanical knowledge and experience working with hand tools. The position requires a focus on safety, precision, and technical expertise to ensure reliable connectivity and system performance.
Duties
- Install, terminate, and troubleshoot Ethernet cabling and low-voltage wiring in accordance with industry standards.
- Set up and maintain computer networking infrastructure, including Cisco routers and switches.
- Work with telecommunication systems such as telephony and other voice/data communication equipment.
- Use hand tools and mechanical knowledge to assemble, secure, and organize cabling pathways within buildings or outdoor environments.
- Perform testing and certification of installed cabling to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Assist in diagnosing electrical issues related to telecommunication and low-voltage systems.
- Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to complete installations on schedule.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including diagrams, test results, and system configurations.
- Follow safety protocols related to electrical work, low-voltage wiring, and working at heights or confined spaces.
Experience
- Proven experience working with Ethernet cabling, computer networking, and telecommunication systems.
- Mechanical knowledge related to cable management, conduit installation, and equipment mounting.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, drills, and testers.
- Familiarity with low-voltage electrical systems and electrical safety procedures.
- Knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, telephony systems, and basic electrical concepts is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working in telecommunications or IT infrastructure projects is preferred but not mandatory.
