Volvo Cars Oakville is seeking a driven, professional, and customer-focused Sales Manager to lead our sales team while delivering an exceptional ownership experience that reflects the Volvo brand. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales performance, maximizing profitability, coaching and developing sales consultants, maintaining high CSI scores, and ensuring every customer interaction exceeds expectations.
This is a leadership position requiring a hands-on manager who leads from the front, embraces accountability, and creates a positive, high-performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
- Lead the daily operations of the sales department.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate the sales team to consistently exceed monthly sales objectives.
- Conduct daily sales meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Monitor salesperson performance through KPIs and implement action plans where necessary.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Customer Experience
- Ensure every customer receives a premium, transparent, and pressure-free buying experience.
- Assist sales consultants in presenting vehicles, overcoming objections, and closing deals.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain industry-leading Customer Satisfaction (CSI) scores.
- Ensure every guest is greeted promptly and treated with respect throughout their visit.
Sales Performance & Profitability
- Achieve monthly and annual sales, gross profit, finance penetration, and accessory targets.
- Structure and negotiate deals while maximizing front-end gross profit.
- Work closely with the Finance Department to maximize dealership profitability.
- Review deal structures for accuracy, compliance, and profitability.
- Monitor inventory aging and work with management to optimize inventory turnover.
Inventory Management
- Maintain a healthy inventory mix aligned with market demand.
- Assist with pricing strategies based on market conditions.
- Ensure vehicle merchandising standards are consistently maintained.
- Oversee vehicle appraisals and assist in acquiring quality pre-owned inventory.
- Collaborate with the General Manager on inventory planning and manufacturer allocation.
Team Development
- Recruit, onboard, and train high-performing sales professionals.
- Conduct regular performance reviews.
- Develop individualized coaching plans for each salesperson.
- Promote teamwork, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture.
- Lead by example through professionalism, integrity, and work ethic.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure compliance with OMVIC regulations, dealership policies, and manufacturer standards.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and sales documentation.
- Ensure all follow-up activities are completed promptly.
- Monitor lead response times and appointment conversion.
- Partner with marketing to maximize showroom traffic and digital opportunities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of automotive sales management experience.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and profitability targets.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation and closing abilities.
- Experience with CRM systems and dealership management software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- OMVIC certification (or ability to obtain).
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.
