Overview
The Chemical Management Technician is responsible for managing and optimizing paint detackification systems within an automotive paint shop environment. This role ensures proper treatment of paint overspray, maintains chemical systems, and supports overall paint shop efficiency, quality, and compliance.
Duties
- Monitor and maintain paint detackification systems, ensuring effective treatment of paint overspray and wastewater.
- Perform routine testing and analysis of detack chemicals and system performance; adjust dosing and parameters as needed.
- Manage chemical inventory, storage, and safe handling in accordance with site and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshoot process issues related to detack systems, sludge removal, and paint booth operations.
- Document test results, system performance, and corrective actions; maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with paint shop engineers, and suppliers to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support on-site training for operations personnel on detack processes and chemical handling.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and control costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in chemical management, paint shop operations, or water treatment systems preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial chemical systems, dosing equipment, and process controls.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data tracking tools.
- Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and suppliers.
- Must be able to lift 23kg (50lb)
Pay: $17.20-$30.00 per hour
