Direct Bore Inc. is a leading utility infrastructure contractor specializing in directional drilling, fibre optic installations, and telecommunications construction across Ontario.
We are currently hiring an experienced Fibre Splicer to support our FTTH projects. This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience with fibre splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and completing accurate documentation for residential fibre builds.
As a Fibre Splicer, you will:
- Complete fibre splicing for FTTH networks, including feeder, distribution, drops, terminals, and customer-ready connections.
- Read and interpret splice plans, fibre drawings, MPT layouts, and work orders.
- Perform fusion splicing in splice trailers, vaults, pedestals, cabinets, terminals, and aerial/underground enclosures.
- Complete OTDR testing, light testing, continuity testing, and troubleshooting as required.
- Build, prep, and maintain fibre enclosures, trays, splitters, terminals, and related equipment.
- Complete fibre assignments and verify counts against plans and field conditions.
- Identify and troubleshoot fibre faults, low light levels, breaks, damages, and incorrect assignments.
- Accurately complete splice records, test results, photos, and closeout documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and field crews to support production and project timelines.
- Follow all client specifications, construction standards, and company health and safety procedures.
- Work safely around live fibre networks, roadways, manholes, vaults, and active construction areas.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Fibre Splicer, preferably on FTTH residential builds.
- Experience with fusion splicing and fibre optic testing equipment.
- Strong understanding of fibre counts, colour codes, splitters, terminals, MPTs, and drop assignments.
- Ability to read and follow FTTH splice plans and redlines.
- Experience troubleshooting fibre issues in the field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid G Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel throughout Ontario.
- Ability to work outdoors and in various field conditions.
