Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Team Lead – Lathers Supervisor to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will support the supervision of lathering operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on the production floor. You will collaborate closely with team members to uphold high standards while assisting in daily operations, training, and process improvements to meet production goals.
Duties
1. Maintain a safe, clean, healthy work environment:
A. Demonstrate total buy-in for Precon’s Health & Safety policies and program.
B. Comply with Supervisory Obligations Under OHS Legislation.
C. Provide on-the-job training (OJT) for your employees on the safe use of equipment, machinery, tools, etc. in your department. Monitor the safe use of and ensure workers are competenton all machinery, tools, and equipment continue to mentor, monitor, and give feedback.
D. Other Health & Safety Responsibilities:
o Promptly address, report, and follow up on safety concerns. Reinforce safe behaviours with positive feedback, help to address unsafe behaviours by explaining and demonstrating how to correct them.
o Conduct and lead daily toolbox meetings and Field Level Hazard Assessments, including assessing and reporting fitness for duty.
o Participate in safety audits, meetings, investigations, observations, and inspections as required. Ensure safety reporting and documentation is completed promptly and correctly.
o Ensure that relevant H&S-related inspections such as PPE, pre-use inspections are completed properly.
o Assist your Coordinator and other relevant parties in ensuring the safety of employees on return-to-work or modified duties as required.
2. Organize and Plan: Organize and plan the workflow of your team efficiently without compromising safety. Set, monitor, and enforce the daily break schedule of your teams. Delegate tasks using your awareness of team member’s strengths. Ensure each person understands their role and has the tools to succeed. Hold each individual accountable.
3. Performance and Employee Relations: Assist your Coordinator in monitoring and evaluating performance. Ensure policies and expectations are enforced and communicated. Address, report, and follow up on non-compliance or performance issues. Assist in resolving minor interpersonal concerns - seek relevant parties for more severe conflicts.
4. Continuous Improvement (CI): Evaluate work tasks for ways to improve safety, processes, and efficiency; Participate in the development of procedures for your department(s).
5. Other Tasks: Participate towards the completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or required, such as absorbing certain Coordinator tasks for vacation coverage or providing back up and support to your teams’ workload if it is required.
Role-Specific Responsibilities
6. Review production drawings for errors and then communicate with co-workers any technical issues that might arise during manufacturing.
7. Requisition materials, equipment and supplies as needed.
8. Monitor department communications. Communicate relevant information to your team.
9. Prepare daily production and efficiency reports.
10. Review your work/Inspect product prior to sending in for inspections. For example: pre-pour checks, post-pour checks.
11. Assist your Coordinator in completing Quality Alerts for defective pieces that don’t pass post-pour checks or other inspections.
12. Communicate clearly and effectively with Logistics/Yard Team to move products and other items as needed.
13. Work proactively with Coordinators, QC, and Maintenance to troubleshoot issues in your department.
14. Monitor and inform Coordinators of low consumable inventoried items used in your department.
15. Ensure your areas comply with cleanliness expectations throughout the day, every day. Ensure cleanup is completed at end of the day.

Preferred
· Experience of 1 to less than 7 months supervising people.
· Valid tickets, certifications and competency for relevant equipment and machinery an asset.
· Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year or 2 years
Work Conditions and Context
· Travel: Valid class 5 drivers’ license, clean driving record, and readily available transportation to and from work are required. Precon is located outside of Lethbridge, so travel is required. Occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may also be expected for training purposes. Clean driving record and provision of driver’s abstract is required for use of company vehicles.
· Conditions: We are a manufacturing/production facility; work will take place in a manufacturing environment with overhead and other hazards. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (i.e., hard hat, high-visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, fall arrest harness, hearing protection, respirator etc.). Work will involve conditions of heat, cold, dust, noise, wind, and will be performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and temperatures. Will also involve climbing ladders, working at heights (on ladders/aerial lift), lifting 50 pounds, working in awkward positions, etc.

· Technology: Use of technology, phones, computers, and programs, etc. is required.
· Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, managers.
· Other: Required to maintain cleanliness and regular upkeep of work area and other equipment; participate in training and on-going learning opportunities.

Pay: $37.50-$38.50 per hour
