Since 1981, Ronald McDonald House Toronto has served as a place to call home for families with seriously ill children undergoing treatment. Ronald McDonald House Toronto encompasses a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and seven Family Rooms in hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury. The families we serve come from throughout Ontario, across Canada and around the world.
We are looking for a Revenue & Finance Coordinator to join our finance team at the House.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Revenue & Finance Coordinator is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of donations, payments, and other cash receipts. This role plays an integral part in supporting the Finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, performing routine reconciliations, preparing bank deposits, and assisting with revenue administration activities.
Working closely with the Finance, Development, and Family Services teams, the Revenue & Finance Coordinator ensures revenue transactions are accurately recorded, supporting documentation is complete, and charitable donations are processed in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements and organizational policies. The role also provides operational support to the Development team through a functional reporting relationship, helping ensure donor information, fundraising revenue, and financial records are accurate, complete, and aligned across systems.
The successful candidate will work onsite at Ronald McDonald House Toronto, Monday through Friday, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organization while contributing to the integrity of donor and financial data.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Process and record donations, payments, and other cash receipts accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Development team to ensure donations are recorded accurately and in accordance with established fundraising coding standards, donor database procedures, and business requirements.
- Process and issue charitable donation tax receipts in accordance with CRA regulations and organizational policies, ensuring accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation.
- Prepare, reconcile, and deliver bank deposits while ensuring funds are securely handled and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Perform routine reconciliations between fundraising systems, accounting records, government reports, and bank deposits, investigating and resolving discrepancies as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate donor, revenue, and cash receipt records, ensuring proper coding and data integrity.
- Process transaction adjustments, corrections, refunds, and returned payments as required.
- Assist with monthly reconciliations of room receipts and other revenue-related accounts.
- Prepare routine cash receipt and revenue reports and provide supporting documentation for month-end and year-end processes.
- Support annual audits and regulatory reporting by organizing and providing requested financial documentation.
- Respond to routine inquiries from internal departments regarding donations, cash receipts, and revenue transactions.
- Assist with month-end and year-end activities, including preparation of supporting schedules and reconciliations.
- Compile and organize supporting documentation for annual audits and other financial reviews.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual T3010 Charity Information Return and other regulatory filings.
- Support the preparation of routine financial, revenue, and Board reports, as required.
- Adhere to organizational financial policies, internal controls, confidentiality requirements, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- College diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of experience in financial administration, accounting, donation processing, or data management.
- Experience maintaining accurate financial records, donor records, and preparing reports.
- Experience processing charitable donations or working in the non-profit sector is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) charitable tax receipting rules and guidelines.
- Experience with Raiser's Edge, Raiser’s Edge NXT, Financial Edge, Blackbaud NetCommunity, Import-O-Matic, or similar fundraising or accounting software is considered an asset.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative working relationships across departments.
- Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling donor and financial information.
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, accountability, and continuous process improvement.
