Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Powerline Technicians and apprentices to join our Storm team. This role involves repairing electrical power lines and systems to ensure reliable energy delivery after a weather event. This position involves crossing into the United States for work so a valid passport is mandatory. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, the ability to adapt to an ever changing plan, experience working with heavy equipment, and a commitment to safety standards. This position offers flexibility to respond to any broadcast as either "available" or "unavailable" for each event.
Responsibilities
- Repair overhead and underground power lines using appropriate tools and equipment
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, Digger derrick, bucket trucks, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform rigging tasks to lift and position materials or equipment during installation or repairs
- Conduct inspections of electrical systems, identify issues, and perform necessary troubleshooting
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and low voltage testing devices to complete tasks accurately
- Follow safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents or injuries during work operations
- Assist with the setup of work zones including traffic control and safety barriers as needed
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and materials used for each project
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge related to electrical infrastructure and heavy equipment operation
- Experience operating excavators, Digger Derricks, bucket trucks, and other heavy machinery such as rigging gear and welding tools
- Electrical experience with low voltage systems and troubleshooting techniques
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in electrical line work
- Ability to operate bucket trucks safely for elevated work at heights
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to high-voltage work environments
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work at heights in various weather conditions

Pay: Up to $120.00 per hour
