St. Paul’s Anglican Church

St. Paul’s is a suburban parish in the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, with a growing children’s ministry. We’re seeking a part-time position to coordinate ministries for elementary-school aged children, focussed primarily on Sundays. Start Date
Applications will be received starting on July 20th, 2026 and will be received until the position is filled. Start date is negotiable, but ideally begins on September 1, 2026.
Qualifications
- An active and vibrant Christian faith and commitment to the communal life of the church.
- A love for children and passion for their formation as followers of Jesus.
- Show ability to communicate in ways compatible with children’s learning styles
- Basic administrative abilities
- Previous experience in teaching is an asset
- Exhibiting wisdom and loving compassion towards children and families
- Comfortable working within the liturgical and theological tradition of the Anglican Church of Canada
Ministry Responsibilities
Formation of children concurrent with Sunday morning services (75%)
- Successfully deliver weekly care for elementary school aged children at our 9:00am & 11am services from September to June.
- In cooperation with parish clergy, implement curriculum for kindergarten through grade 6
- Recruit, screen, train, oversee and support volunteer team
- Foster a good relationship with parents, and maintain a visible profile in the church
- Maintain an orderly Sunday School room, and keep necessary supplies stocked
Ministry with families outside of Sunday mornings (25%)
- Keep regular contact with parents and families, ensuring they are aware of upcoming events and the content of lessons
- Assist in engaging children in our Christmas Eve family service
- Plan, implement and manage yearly budget and provide yearly written report to vestry (our church’s annual general meeting)
Time Commitment
10 hours per week from September – June, including the following
- Approximately 4.5 hours per week at the church on Sundays, leading Sunday school (September – June)
- Approximately 1 hour per month for a regular planning meeting with clergy. Times and dates are negotiable.
- Remaining hours can normally be self-allocated, to prepare curriculum, liaise with volunteers, complete administrative tasks, and other tasks to support active children’s ministry. This work can normally be completed remotely, in consultation with parish clergy.
Compensation
The wage range is $22-25 per hour, depending on the level of education and experience the successful applicant brings to the position.
