Seeking an energetic, upbeat, flexible and adaptable individual to assume the role of medical office assistant in a busy plastic surgeons' office near the Royal Jubilee Hospital. You will be joining a team of: 2 full-time surgeons, 1 nurse, and 1 full-time assistant. You will be involved in booking patients for both consultations and surgery, taking patients through their pre- and post-operative journey, as well as communicating with referring physician offices, private surgical centers, and Island Health Authority staff for hospital-based resource management. Patient interaction is frequent and rewarding, and frequent communication with the surgeon is necessary.
You will learn all parts of administration in a plastic surgery practice, including complex reconstructive microsurgery, busy trauma call demands, and more. Applicant will need to be an established resident Victoria, as regular in-office work is necessary. Training can start anytime.
Responsibilities and Duties
Patient reception and communication, appointment booking, operating room/surgery booking, medical transcription of consultation and operative reports, scanning, faxing, miscellaneous office duties, and special projects. Holiday coverage between office assistants allows for flexibility in time off.
Qualifications and Skills
-MOA training certificate
-Microsoft and Apple computer operating system familiarity
-tech-savvy electronic systems abilities would be considered a strength
-Microsoft Word, Excel facility
-positive, calm, and customer-service oriented phone and communication skills
-organized self-starter
-ability to troubleshoot independently
-experience with electronic medical records (Plexia experience an asset)

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
