The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a reliable and compassionate Medical Van Driver to support community members in accessing medical appointments and health services. In this important role, you will be responsible for safely transporting clients to and from healthcare facilities while providing respectful, supportive, and professional service. This position plays a key role in reducing barriers to care and ensuring community members can attend appointments safely and on time.
Who You Are
As our Medical Van Driver, you are dependable, patient, and community focused. You understand the importance of safe transportation and respectful interaction with clients, including Elders and individuals with varying health needs. You are committed to providing a positive and supportive experience for all passengers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Safely transporting community members to and from medical appointments (local and regional)
- Assisting clients in and out of the vehicle as required, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Maintaining a respectful and supportive environment for all passengers.
- Ensuring the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition.
- Completing daily vehicle inspections and reporting any maintenance issues.
- Maintaining accurate trip logs, mileage records, and client transportation records.
- Coordinating schedules and routes to ensure timely arrival at appointments.
- Communicating effectively with clients, health staff, and administration.
- Following all traffic laws, safety protocols, and organizational policies.
- Responding appropriately in emergency situations and reporting incidents as required.
- Supporting clients with mobility needs where appropriate.
Qualifications
To thrive in this role, you possess the following:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
- Experience driving in a professional or community setting is an asset
- Strong understanding of safe driving practices and vehicle maintenance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage schedules effectively
- Sensitivity to the needs of community members, including Elders and individuals with health concerns
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
- Knowledge of the local area and surrounding communities
- Experience working in a First Nation community is considered an asset
