Herzig Eye Institute is a state-of-the-art facility specializing in cataract and refractive procedures. We are presently seeking an energetic, highly motivated individual with a passion for delivering excellent customer service. This is an opportunity for someone with professional administrative skills, natural people skills and a keen sense of attention to detail. The Surgical Counsellor is the contact person for the customer thru the consultation process, surgery and post-op care. This position is primarily responsible for scheduling procedures, discussion about financial and informed consent, and some ophthalmic diagnostic testing. The Surgical Counsellor must have a thorough understanding of all services (procedures) offered at Herzig Eye Institute. Attention to detail is essential.
- Project a professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and high-end customer service approach with all our patients at all times
- Be a strong member of a team that manages the patient experience along the full continuum of contact
- Education of the patient on their prescribed treatment, answering all their questions, review fees and financing options. Speak clearly and confidently.
- Receives and secures payment from patients
- Be a direct contact for that patient as they move through the treatment and post-op processes. Able to manage emotional situations with the patient and understands the importance of confidentiality.
- Work with the Practice Manager and other team members to ensure each part of the patient experience is demonstrating excellence
- Be successful in helping the team you are a part of grow conversion rates above our current established average
Technical skills
The ideal candidate will have some experience in an ophthalmology or an optometry office. Able to utilize skills as an ophthalmic technician including but not limited to performing corneal topography, OCT, A-Scan, Visual Fields, patient work-ups, IOP, IOL Master, Lenstar, and iDesign.
