THE ROLE
STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a long-established Vancouver-based engineering and consulting organization to recruit a Project Accountant. For confidentiality reasons, our client has asked that their identity remain undisclosed during the early stages of the recruitment process.
With a reputation built over decades, the organization delivers complex technical consulting projects for clients across Canada and internationally. Reporting to the Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting project financials, billing, forecasting and work-in-progress reporting, while gaining exposure to month-end accounting, ASPE financial statements and ERP process improvement initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the financial administration of multiple projects from setup through to completion
- Prepare client billings and monitor project budgets, work-in-progress (WIP) and project forecasts
- Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices
- Partner closely with Project Directors/Managers and internal stakeholders to support project delivery and resolve billing or project-related queries
- Coordinate project setup, maintenance and reporting within the ERP system
- Assist with month-end close activities, reconciliations and project reporting
- Progress into preparing financial statements in accordance with ASPE
- Support ERP enhancements and continuous process improvement initiatives
- Assist with tax filings and other accounting compliance requirements
- Respond to day-to-day project accounting, billing and financial inquiries

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience within a project-based environment
- Experience in project accounting, project billing, work-in-progress (WIP), revenue recognition or project financial administration
- Experience within engineering, consulting, architecture, construction, professional services, real estate or other project-driven industries will be highly regarded
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and ASPE
- CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or a similar ERP system is considered an asset
- A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in continuous improvement and process enhancement
