The Opportunity: Reporting to the Dean, Health programs, a full-time Professor of Paramedicine to provide academic instruction to Paramedic students at the college level. In addition to supporting the development of future paramedic professionals, the incumbent will be responsible for curriculum design, teaching assigned courses, and providing academic leadership. We are looking for individuals who can bring practical insights and professional expertise from paramedic practice into the classroom.
Our Paramedic program prepares students for the demands of professional practice through a combination of theory, simulation, and experiential learning. We invite professionals with expertise in emergency response, patient care and assessment, simulation, clinical practice, human factors, leadership, and paramedic operations to consider a career in teaching with Sault College.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in paramedicine, health sciences, education, or a related field; Masters degree considered an asset
- Minimum five (5) years experience as a Paramedic
- Current Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (AEMCA) certificate
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Base Hospital Certification considered assets
- Teaching in a post-secondary environment, including working with adult and diverse learners
- Experience in student preceptorship / mentorship, simulation-based education, and professional practice leadership
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Demonstrated curriculum design, assessment, and educational leadership experience
- Teaching software / tools proficiency
- Understanding of education standards, professional and regulatory requirements, industry best practice
Sault College provides an attractive total compensation package, encompassing competitive wages/salaries, a defined benefit pension plan, group insurance benefits, and a variety of employee perks. This is a full-time academic bargaining unit position. Salary range is $77,153 to $133,752 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
