We have an immediate opportunity at DORA Construction Ltd for an
Junior Estimator
The Junior Construction Estimator supports the estimating and project teams by preparing accurate cost information, reviewing project documents, coordinating pricing, and assisting with bids for residential, commercial, industrial, or civil construction projects.
Responsibilities
· Review drawings, specifications, addenda, tender documents, and scope requirements to understand project details.
· Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontracted work under the direction of a senior estimator.
· Assist in preparing preliminary estimates, detailed cost breakdowns, budgets, and bid submissions.
· Request, collect, and compare pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
· Maintain organized records of quotes, takeoffs, estimate files, bid documents, and supporting backup information.
· Help prepare tender packages, subcontractor scopes of work, and bid comparison summaries.
· Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project review meetings as required.
· Identify missing information, discrepancies, exclusions, and potential risks in drawings, specifications, or quotations.
· Communicate with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, architects, and clients to clarify estimate requirements.
· Assist with cost monitoring by comparing estimated costs to actual project costs and documenting variances.
· Support value engineering, cost-saving options, and alternative material or construction method reviews.
· Track changes to drawings, schedules, site conditions, and scope that may affect project pricing.
· Maintain and update supplier, subcontractor, labour, material, and equipment cost databases.
· Ensure all estimating work is accurate, complete, clearly documented, and submitted by required deadlines.
Qualifications
· Graduated from a construction related post-secondary program
· Able to read construction drawings, specifications, tender documents, RFP's, etc.
· Keen eye for detail and accuracy.
· Organized. Able to manage multiple tasks, projects, deadlines.
· Communication skills. The candidate will be in constant communication with subcontractors, consultants, designers, owners, etc.
· Positive attitude and has an interest in being part of and helping to grow the team
· Has their own transportation and is able and willing to travel to job sites all over NS and NB on short notice.
· Construction experience an asset

**Depending on experience. Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
