ROLE
Surerus is looking to hire a Labourer to support operations over the summer in our Fort St John location. You'll be responsible for general support on a variety of tasks within the Fort St John Shop and Yard.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Comply with Surerus Safety practices and procedures
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment
- Assist tradespeople and machine operators as needed
- Perform various general labour activities, such as:
- Housekeeping in and around the shop and yard
- Clean up of garbage and debris as required
- Manual material handling
- Operator lawn mowers and whipper snippers
- Operate hand and power tools
Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- High School diploma completed, or in progress
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Between ages of 17 and 24
- Reliable transportation to and from work
Experience
- Previous experience in general labour within an equipment repair facility is an asset.
Skills & Knowledge
- Self-starter, with problem solving skills and adaptability.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team
- Safety conscious and aware of job site protocols
- Punctual with a strong work ethic
- Excellent communication skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is based in our Fort St John shop and yard. Must be able to work 8 – 10 hour days, 5 days a week.
Successful completion of a Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol test is required as a condition of employment. Steel-toed boots are required for this position.
COMPENSATION
The hourly rate for this position is between $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, dependent on the candidates skills and experience.
