1. About Snaking River Consulting
Snaking River Consulting is a deliberately small consulting company. That isn't because we're trying to grow into something bigger. It's because we believe our size is one of our greatest strengths.
We work for Indigenous governments, organizations, and businesses to advance projects that strengthen communities and support self determination. We’ve intentionally remained small so we can stay responsive, adaptable, and closely connected to the work. Our clients know us personally, and we know their communities, priorities, and challenges. We only work on projects that align with our values and where we know we can make a meaningful contribution. We believe the best work happens when we build trusted, long-term relationships and become an extension of our clients' teams, rather than simply another consultant.
Our work spans governance, infrastructure, housing, fisheries, economic development, renewable energy, strategic planning, community engagement, organizational development, and funding acquisition. Every project is different, but each one is grounded in collaboration, respect, and a genuine commitment to helping our clients achieve their goals.
Most of our work comes through referrals and long-standing relationships built on trust, quality, and results. We believe that reputation is earned through the work we do and the relationships we build.
2. About the Role
As our Senior Project Coordinator, you will work directly alongside the Principal Consultant, supporting multiple projects and clients simultaneously while gaining exposure to every aspect of running a successful consulting business.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and finds satisfaction in helping complex projects run smoothly.
We are looking for someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity. You take pride in producing thoughtful, polished work, anticipating what needs to happen next, and ensuring projects continue moving forward without waiting for someone to ask.
You'll work on projects that impact Indigenous communities throughout British Columbia while developing a broad range of consulting, project management, communication, and leadership skills.
We are committed to investing in your professional growth. If your long-term goal is to build a career supporting First Nations or eventually establish your own consulting practice, this role is designed to provide mentorship, hands on experience, and increasing responsibility as your skills and confidence grow.
3. Position Details and Responsibilities
This is a fully remote position. We offer flexibility in how your workday is structured, and your work can be completed at times that best suit your schedule.
Because we work closely with clients across British Columbia, successful candidates must be available to attend virtual meetings between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM Pacific Time when required. While meetings will not occupy your entire day, flexibility during these hours is an essential part of the role.

4. What We're Looking For
- Experience working for Indigenous governments, organizations, or businesses.
- A strong understanding of Indigenous governance structures and the unique legal, political, and cultural contexts in which First Nations, Inuit and Métis governments operate.
- Knowledge of the history and ongoing impacts of colonization in Canada, including residential schools, the reserve system, treaties, and the significance of unceded territories throughout British Columbia.
- An understanding of the principles of reconciliation and the importance of supporting First Nations self determination.

- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The successful candidate is someone who:
- Takes initiative and follows through.
- Thinks ahead and anticipates project needs.
- Is naturally organized and detail oriented.
- Enjoys learning and solving problems.
- Communicates professionally and confidently.
- Is comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Takes pride in producing high quality work.
- Wants to build a meaningful career supporting First Nations governments, organizations, and businesses.
- Is excited by the opportunity to learn directly from an experienced consultant while developing the skills to lead projects independently.
We're not necessarily looking for the person with the longest résumé. We're looking for someone who is curious, dependable, humble, takes initiative, and genuinely cares about doing excellent work. If you're excited by meaningful projects, continuous learning, and the opportunity to grow alongside a small consulting company, we'd love to hear from you.
5. Application Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must submit both a resume and a cover letter.
Your cover letter is an important part of your application. Much of this role involves preparing professional correspondence, meeting summaries, reports, funding applications, proposals, and other written deliverables. We are interested not only in your experience, but also in how you communicate, organize your thoughts, and present information.
Please prepare your cover letter using your own writing.
