Position Overview
Our client, a well-established plaintiff-side litigation firm, is seeking a Junior Associate Lawyer to join its growing team. This position is ideal for a lawyer with up to 10 years of call who is eager to develop expertise in plaintiff personal injury litigation, strengthen advocacy skills, and build meaningful client relationships.
The successful candidate will support senior counsel on active files, assist in advancing matters through various stages of litigation, and contribute to case strategy and preparation under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior counsel with the management and progression of plaintiff personal injury files through both pre-litigation and litigation stages.
- Draft, review, and revise pleadings, correspondence, affidavits, motion materials, and responses to undertakings.
- Support preparation for discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, hearings, and other litigation proceedings.
- Review and summarize medical records, expert reports, accident benefits documentation, income loss records, and damages-related materials.
- Coordinate evidence gathering, record requests, expert communications, and follow-up activities.
- Maintain organized files and ensure compliance with all deadlines, limitation periods, service requirements, and undertakings.
- Collaborate closely with legal assistants, law clerks, and other team members to ensure files progress efficiently.
- Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy development as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in personal injury litigation, insurance litigation, or a related practice area.
- Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and sound professional judgment.
- Ability to manage multiple files and competing priorities effectively.
Preferred
- Experience participating in discoveries, mediations, motions, and trial preparation.
- Comfortable reviewing and analyzing medical records and expert evidence.
- Knowledge of accident benefits claims and related legislation.
- Demonstrated interest in plaintiff-side advocacy and litigation.
