What we need from you:
- A degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an arborist, preferably in a consulting capacity.
- Certification as an Arborist (e.g., ISA Certified Arborist) is Required
- TRAQ is strongly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of tree biology, ecology, and arboricultural best practices.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and guidelines related to tree preservation and urban forestry in municipalities.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills to convey technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Proficiency in using specialized software and tools for tree inventory and assessment.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
What you will do
Arboricultural Consultations:
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess tree health, condition, and structural stability.
- Identify potential risks posed by trees and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
- Offer guidance on tree care practices, such as pruning, fertilization, and irrigation, to promote healthy growth and longevity.
- Advise on tree selection and placement in landscaping and development projects.
Preservation Plan Report Writing:
- Prepare detailed preservation plans and reports, outlining tree protection measures during construction and development activities.
- Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national regulations related to tree preservation and urban forestry.
- Provide well-researched and evidence-based justifications for tree retention or removal decisions.
- Include arboricultural specifications for construction projects to prevent damage to trees.
Risk Assessment and Hazard Mitigation:
- Identify potential hazards associated with trees, such as disease, decay, pest infestations, or structural issues.
- Propose risk mitigation strategies to reduce the likelihood of tree-related incidents.
- Collaborate with landscape architects, engineers, and project managers to integrate tree preservation into development plans.
Tree Inventory and Assessment:
- Conduct tree inventories to document species, size, condition, and location of trees on a property or in a specified area.
- Use specialized tools and equipment to measure tree attributes accurately.
- Understand and be competent in ArborTom sonar tomograghy and pull testing devices.
- Analyze data to inform preservation plans and management strategies.
- Client Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and preservation plans to clients and stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
- Collaborate with local government agencies, environmental organizations, and community groups to address tree-related concerns and advocate for tree preservation.
- Continuing Education and Professional Development:
- Stay up to date with the latest arboricultural practices, research, and industry trends.
- Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance expertise in the field.
