Nakama Trading is seeking a detail‑oriented and analytical Accountant to support our financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Recordkeeping — Prepare, maintain, and reconcile financial records, ledgers, and statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable — Process invoices, payments, and collections; monitor aging reports; ensure timely and accurate transactions.
- Month‑End & Year‑End Processes — Assist with journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting Support — Provide data, insights, and variance analysis to support financial planning.
- Tax Compliance — Assist with HST filings, payroll remittances, and preparation of documents for external accountants.
- Internal Controls — Maintain and improve financial processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies.
- Expense Management — Review and verify employee expenses, vendor charges, and operational costs.
- Audit Support — Prepare documentation and respond to inquiries during internal or external audits.
- Financial Analysis — Provide insights on trends, cost efficiencies, and business performance.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience (retail or trading industry experience is an asset).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
