Staff and Volunteer Leadership:
The Retail Coordinator has the responsibility to ensure Team Members on the retail floor are familiar with their roles, and properly trained. The Retail Coordinator will ensure the General Manager is made aware of issues pertaining to Team Member suitability, needs for training or reassignment. Customer service, product availability and merchandizing best practices are the cornerstone of the retail floor, and this will serve as the basis for the Retail Coordinator’s tasks and scope of direction. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Ensure Team members are trained in their roles and responsibilities.
- Setting clear expectations and direction for each Team Member.
- Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator in the scheduling and training of retail volunteers.
- Support cashiers as the on-the-floor presence to assist in customer service, troubleshooting, coverage.
Retail Floor Oversight/Merchandizing:
The Retail Coordinator is accountable for keeping the retail area safe, clean, organized and well stocked. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Ensure Shop is ready for customers at the beginning of each sales day,

Understand the POS system and payment terminals and be able to trouble-shoot as necessary,

Keep Team Members informed about color rotation, discounts and culling changes,
- Ensure retail floor signage is consistent and on brand with MCC’s Branding Guide

Ensuring positive customer and donor experiences,

Coordinate seasonal and special event displays with the Production Manager,

Schedule, create and maintain seasonal displays,

Oversee items going out into the retail space & refresh as needed,

Retail display fixtures and layout shuffles to keep the Shop looking fresh

Financial Responsibility:
Retail Coordinator plays a key role in assisting the General Manager in achieving sales targets. The Retail Coordinator’s role in this area includes, but is not limited to:
- Meets daily with the General Manager to carry out sales reconciliations to verify that recorded sales match actual cash or electronic payments received.

Cash pulls throughout the day and daily deposits,

Maintains and reconciles cash floats daily, and ensures that MCC’s policies around risk management are adhered to and enforced,
- Ensure that cashiers have enough change in their tills throughout the day,
- Monitors all transactions to identify and report transaction errors and correct them,

Develop strategies to improve and meet revenue targets.
Health, Safety, and Risk:
In Alberta, all employers are required to enforce the Occupational Health and Safety code, act and regulations. The Retail Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the enforcement of all Occupational Health & Safety mandates in the retail space.
