This senior leadership role provides financial oversight across multiple Canadian entities and plays a critical role in driving financial strategy, operational performance, and scalable growth.
The Director of Finance will act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, providing insight, structure, and financial clarity across all business units. This individual will lead national financial operations including planning, reporting, and analysis, while building strong processes, controls, and teams to support ongoing expansion.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide financial leadership and oversight across multiple Canadian branches and business units
- Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning processes
- Act as a key advisor to executive leadership, translating financial data into actionable insights to support business decisions
- Oversee the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reporting across entities
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting through strong internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Lead and manage full-cycle accounting functions across entities, including intercompany transactions and consolidations
- Drive ongoing financial and operational analysis to evaluate performance, identify risks, and uncover growth opportunities
- Build and enhance dynamic financial models to support land development projects, capital planning, and investment decisions
- Oversee weekly and monthly cash flow forecasting and capital allocation across projects and regions
- Partner with operational leaders across development, construction, and sales to align financial strategy with business objectives
- Lead the preparation of year-end financials and act as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Develop and mentor a high-performing finance team, creating structure, accountability, and growth within the function
- Identify and implement system improvements, ERP enhancements, and scalable financial processes
- Provide financial leadership on special projects, acquisitions, and expansion initiatives
- Monitor key financial trends and proactively communicate insights and recommendations to senior leadership
Role Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- CPA designation required
- 8–12+ years of progressive finance experience, with leadership exposure across multi-entity or multi-division organizations
- Experience within land development, real estate, construction, or related industries strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of project-based accounting, capital planning, and development pro formas
- Proven experience managing consolidations, intercompany transactions, and multi-entity reporting structures
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities
- Strong systems experience with ERP platforms and advanced Excel proficiency
- Experience with JD Edwards or similar systems is an asset
- Highly strategic with the ability to operate both at a big-picture and detailed level
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly and confidently
- Willingness to work in-office and be an active, visible leader within the organization
Compensation
A comprehensive compensation package will accompany the successful candidate. Starting salary range is based on experience and qualifications.
