Manufacturing Purchasing - Position Summary VISTA Railing Systems Inc. is seeking an experienced purchasing and inventory professional to manage the procurement of aluminum extrusions that support our manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the right extrusion profiles are available at the right time to meet production requirements while maintaining optimal inventory levels and controlling material costs. The successful candidate will review production requirements, forecast extrusion demand, determine purchasing quantities, manage inventory levels, and coordinate purchases from both domestic and offshore suppliers. This role requires sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Purchasing
- ● Review production schedules and upcoming customer orders to determine aluminum extrusion & related manufacturing input requirements.
- ● Forecast future extrusion & related manufacturing input demand based on production plans and sales forecasts.
- ● Determine purchasing quantities and timing to support manufacturing.
- ● Prepare and issue purchase orders to domestic and international extrusion suppliers.
- ● Monitor supplier lead times and adjust purchasing plans as required.
- ● Cost analysis on domestic vs offshore extrusions with balance ordering to keep both options open
Inventory Management
- ● Maintain appropriate inventory levels for all extrusion & related manufacturing input profiles.
- ● Balance inventory investment with production requirements.
- ● Monitor inventory usage and identify slow-moving or excess stock
- . ● Recommend inventory adjustments to improve inventory turns while maintaining service levels.
- ● Participate in inventory counts and ensure inventory accuracy.
Supplier Management
- ● Build and maintain strong relationships with extrusion suppliers.
- ● Coordinate delivery schedules to meet production needs.
- ● Work with suppliers to resolve delivery, quality, or supply issues.
- ● Monitor supplier performance for quality, pricing, and on-time delivery.
- ● Assist in identifying opportunities for lower-cost sourcing, including offshore suppliers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- ● Work closely with Production, Customer Service, Sales, and Finance.
- ● Communicate potential material shortages or supply risks.
- ● Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing and inventory management.
- ● Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory information within the ERP system.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- ● Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, production planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- ● Experience purchasing aluminum extrusions, metals, or similar manufactured products is considered a strong asset.
- ● Experience managing supplier relationships and purchase orders.
- ● Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- ● Strong understanding of inventory management principles.

Compensation:
Base Salary $65-75K range plus profit sharing incentive, plus benefits including extended health, dental, life insurance, RRSP matching program and 3 weeks paid vacation.
Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
