Position Overview
The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for administering, processing, and maintaining the Canadian benefit programs, including Group Insurance, Group Retirement, Employee Assistance, and Wellness Programs. The Benefits Coordinator will have in-depth knowledge of the benefits plans in order to provide excellent customer service to plan members while ensuring that the plan provisions are adhered to.
Responsibilities
- Enroll and terminate employees in the various benefit systems.
- Administer disability plans, including meeting with employees and back-to-work follow-up.
- Collect insurance premiums for leave of absence.
- Provide confirmation of insurance letters to employees.
- Perform quarterly audits to ensure data accuracy in all systems.
- Communicate with insurance/wellness providers for all administrative issues.
- Respond to employee questions.
- Present group insurance plan to new employees.
- Coordinate wellness activities and seminars.
- Review of billing and preparation of cheque requests for all insurance providers.
- Coordination of renewal activities and communication to employees.
- Attend regular meetings with Benefits Providers
- Participate in and lead Corporate benefits planning and renewal meetings.
- Support other areas of Human Resources if required.
- Coaching and supporting hiring managers through the hiring process (negotiations and verbal offer).
- Attend university and college career fairs and similar events.
- Generating reports and statistics.
- Special projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in human resources or a related equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in benefits.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- An aptitude for basic accounting and financial concepts
