About Public Affairs:
The Public Affairs Service Line is the world leader in Social and Opinion Research. We work with clients on political and public opinion polling, citizen and stakeholder management, social policy improvement, sustainable development strategy and identifying societal trends and perceptions across several sectors. We assess how government and public affairs policies as well as societal trends and views impact our client’s brand/products/markets.
What makes this role important at Ipsos?
As a Director, you will play a leading role in the provision of strategic insight to our clients in the delivery of research and advisory services. In this role, you will work with clients to understand their business issues and needs in order to develop and design appropriate solutions while building and maintaining strong client relationships. You are experienced in quantitative research design, with experience leading projects from start to finish. Our ideal candidate is an innovative thinker possessing both drive and intelligence, with a passion for matching science with insight.
What you can expect to be doing:
- Design research proposals which contribute to growing business presence and scope with clients, as well as mentor and coach a small team of researchers
- Coordinate and perform data analysis and verification, test hypotheses, draw conclusions; prepare reports and presentations; make recommendations, socialize the learning, and provide ongoing advice to support decision-making and planning.
- Understand the spectrum of Ipsos service lines and collaborate with other experts across the service lines to support the client. May include new business outreach and structured business development plans
- Mentors and trains junior team members on best practices and career growth on an ongoing basis
- Creates "internal brand" within Ipsos and specific thought should be given to the unique area (whether client facing and/or internal facing) and activities that will help guide what they want to be "known for" as an expert within and outside of Ipsos
- CLIENT MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acts as primary project lead to the client, overseeing more junior members. Handles more complex conversations/communications around project design, analysis, and unexpected challenges. Works to ensure business retention and uncover incremental revenue generation opportunities. Provides coaching and guidance to more junior team members on their own client interactions.
- STUDY LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES
- large datasets and databases of primary and secondary data through sub-group and advanced analysis. Leads/co-leads final report writing elements, strategic client guidance and presentation of findings.
- EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- May act as manager to one or more Account Managers/Senior Account Managers. Includes overseeing training schedule, day-to-day guidance and supervision, and providing feedback (both ongoing and during annual review and goal setting).
- STRATEGIC THINKING EXPECTATIONS
- Acts as strategic leader for project team and (in some cases) for client account team overall. Thinks through implications of actions, identifies opportunities and risks, and acts accordingly, balances providing what the client needs with the optimal outcome for Ipsos.
This might be the job for you if you have:
- 5+ years’ experience in a research environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a strong client service orientation
- Ability to work quickly and accurately while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Strong quantitative research, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to draw insights and tell a story with data
- Highly motivated, self-directed & possess a driven personality capable of working within tight deadlines
- Superior organizational skills, unflagging attention to detail & demonstrated commitment to the accuracy and completeness of information
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Work well in a team environment
- Bachelor’s Degree (Graduate Degree an asset) or equivalent related experience
SPSS, R experience preferred
