Finance Manager / Controller
Position Summary
The Finance Manager / Controller is responsible for actively leading and contributing to the organization’s financial operations while providing strategic financial leadership to support business performance and growth. Reporting to the executive team, this role combines hands-on execution with oversight of all accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, internal controls, and cash management.
This position requires a highly engaged leader who not only guides strategy but is directly involved in day-to-day financial activities, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and the delivery of timely insights that drive informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership, providing both strategic recommendations and direct support on financial matters.
- Lead and actively participate in financial planning, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy development.
- Build and maintain financial models and scenario analysis to support decision-making.
- Identify and action opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and overall financial performance.
- Support organizational growth initiatives, acquisitions, and capital planning activities through analysis, recommendations and execution.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee and actively contribute to all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial close processes.
- Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
- Maintain accountability for timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements.
- Lead and support consolidations, multi-entity reporting, and intercompany accounting as required.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management
- Lead and directly support the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Monitor operational performance, analyze variances, and work with leaders to implement corrective actions.
- Deliver clear financial analysis and KPI reporting to support leadership decisions.
- Actively manage cash flow forecasting and drive working capital optimization.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls and financial governance frameworks.
- Coordinate and support external audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with taxation, payroll, legal, and financial regulations through both oversight and execution.
- Identify financial risks and implement practical mitigation strategies.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead from the front by mentoring, supporting, and actively working alongside coworker involvement in accounting functions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
- Develop and implement efficient workflows while ensuring processes remain practical and scalable.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive hands-on improvements, automation, and efficiencies across financial functions.
- Enhance reporting tools, dashboards, and financial visibility through direct involvement in system and process changes.
Qualifications
- CPA designation required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing finance or accounting teams.
- Strong working knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and compliance.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced financial modeling capabilities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in multi-entity or project-based environments.
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Proven ability to support executive leadership.
- Experience with change management and process transformation initiatives.
- Background in construction, professional services, infrastructure, Indigenous organizations, or growth-stage businesses is an asset.

Pay: $110,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
