Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and friendly Housekeeping & Guest Services Assistant to join our team at The Haven Hostel. This role is primarily focused on housekeeping and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for guests, while also assisting with basic front desk and guest service duties when needed.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced hospitality environment, takes pride in cleanliness and organization, and provides excellent customer service to travelers from around the world.
This position is under the Canada Summer Jobs Program, applicants must be:
- A Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada
- Between the ages of 15-30 years of age
Duties & Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare guest rooms, bathrooms, and common areas to hostel standards
- Make beds, change linens, vacuum, dust, mop, and sanitize surfaces
- Restock toiletries, linens, kitchen supplies, and other guest amenities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of shared spaces including lounges, hallways, kitchens, and reception areas
- Assist with guest check-ins, questions, and basic front desk support as needed
- Provide friendly and professional customer service to guests
- Report maintenance issues, damages, or safety concerns to management
- Assist with laundry, garbage removal, and general property upkeep
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure rooms and guest spaces are ready on time
Qualifications
- Previous cleaning, housekeeping, or hospitality experience is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks including lifting moderate loads
About The Role
This position is approximately 85% housekeeping and 15% guest services/front desk support. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, interacting with travelers, and contributing to a positive hostel atmosphere.
Pay: From $18.25 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 30.0 per week
