Overview:
As a Veterinary Assistant at Glenview Animal Hospital, you will play an essential role in supporting our DVMs and RVTs while contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the hospital. This hands-on position blends clinical support with patient care, ensuring each visit is organized, compassionate, and high quality.
Veterinary Assistants are responsible for assisting with patient handling and restraint, preparing exam rooms and equipment, supporting medical procedures, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, adaptability, and a proactive, team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities
- Assist DVMs and RVTs with patient handling, restraint, and procedures
- Support patient care, including monitoring, cleaning, and comfort
- Prepare exam rooms, surgical areas, and treatment spaces
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the hospital
- Assist with laboratory sample preparation and handling
- Support reception as needed (phones, client communication, workflow support)
- Ensuring all follow-up calls are completed in a timely manner
- Ensure accurate and thorough documentation in medical records, including all client communications and follow-ups
- Follow all hospital SOPs, safety protocols, and infection control standards
Qualifications
- Full-time, Monday to Saturday availability required, rotating shifts
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in animal care is preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced setting
- Committed to maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and client service
- Positive, compassionate attitude with a willingness to learn and grow
- Reliable with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Comfortable handling and restraining animals safely and confidently
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or sensitive situations
- Familiarity with veterinary software, scheduling systems, and client communication tools is an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in animal care or veterinary assisting is an asset
