Job Summary
Stellar Fire Protection & Code Consulting is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-time Fire Safety Consultant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for professionals with experience in fire protection engineering, fire prevention, fire code consulting, or fire safety planning who are looking for flexible work opportunities.
The successful candidate will assist clients with fire code compliance, fire safety plans, inspections, technical reports, and consulting services for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings in GTA.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fire safety inspections and site assessments.
- Prepare and update Fire Safety Plans in accordance with the Ontario Fire Code.
- Review buildings for compliance with the Ontario Fire Code.
- Assist clients in resolving fire code deficiencies and municipal inspection orders.
- Prepare professional technical reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
- Provide fire safety training and emergency procedures to building owners and occupants.
- Review fire protection systems including sprinkler, fire alarm, standpipe, and emergency lighting systems for general code compliance.
- Communicate with municipal fire departments, property managers, contractors, and building owners.
- Support fire protection design and consulting projects as assigned.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and client records.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, NFPA Standards, and applicable fire safety regulations.
- Experience preparing Fire Safety Plans.
- Experience conducting fire inspections or fire code consulting.
- Experience reviewing sprinkler or fire alarm systems.
- HydraCAD or Revit experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more of the following would be considered an asset:
- NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector I or II
- NFPA 1035 Public Educator
- OACETT C.Tech. or C.E.T
