Position Summary
This role is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of sealants and caulking systems on commercial, institutional, multi-family residential, and tenant improvement projects. The ideal candidate is experienced in applying a variety of sealants and joint systems, has strong attention to detail, and is committed to delivering high-quality workmanship while maintaining safety standards.
Job Responsibilities
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and WorkSafeBC requirements.
Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime or adjusted hours when project schedules require.
Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment as required.
Identify and report site issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns promptly.
Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, site personnel, and other trades.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
Ensure installations meet company quality standards and client expectations.
Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Prepare joints and substrates by cleaning, grinding, masking, and priming surfaces as required.
Install silicone, urethane, acrylic, firestop, and specialty sealants in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Apply caulking and sealants to expansion joints, control joints, window perimeters, doors, curtain walls, flooring transitions, and other building assemblies.
Perform backer rod installation and ensure proper joint preparation.
Complete touch-ups, repairs, and warranty work as required.
Ensure all work complies with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
Required Education, Knowledge, and Experience
Strong English verbal communication skills.
Previous experience as a commercial or residential caulker/sealant installer.
Knowledge of sealant types, joint design, backer rod installation, and substrate preparation.
Ability to read drawings and follow project specifications.
Experience working with silicone, urethane, acrylic, firestop, and specialty sealant systems.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with crews and site personnel.
Ability to safely lift and move materials, tools, and equipment.
Valid BC driver's license considered an asset.
Clean criminal record related to work eligibility.
