Healthcare Security Officer
Site Description: Guysborough Memorial Hospital offers a 24-hour emergency department along with a range of essential healthcare services.
Position Details:
Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Guysborough Memorial Hospital
Location: 10560 NS-16, Guysborough NS B0H 1N0
Hours: 4-day on 4-day off; Rotational Shifts - 0700-1900/1900-0700
Payrate: $ 20.50
Key Responsibilities:

Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises to ensure the safety and security of the site.

Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.

Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.

Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.

Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff, ensuring that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.

Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.

Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Perform patient watch duties as needed, including continuous observation to ensure safety and prevent harm. Monitor and report concerns, follow clinical direction, and document accurately.
Prerequisites:

Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia

Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)

English (oral and written) fluency is a must
-
Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.

Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)

Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
