Job Summary:
The Materials Manager role is to ensure that the plant's materials management operations are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the company's strategic objectives. They oversee the materials management functions within the plant and are responsible for oversight of materials management, from procurement and inventory control to logistics and distribution, while also driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of excellence within the team.
Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning: responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for materials management that align with the overall goals and objectives of the company. This includes setting goals, defining key performance indicators (KPIs), and establishing strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.

Inventory Management: oversee the inventory control processes, including forecasting demand, ordering materials, monitoring stock levels, and managing inventory accuracy. They ensure that adequate inventory is maintained to support production requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

Supplier Management: responsible for managing relationships with suppliers and vendors. This involves negotiating contracts, monitoring supplier performance, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Logistics and Distribution: coordinate logistics and distribution activities to ensure timely delivery of materials to support production schedules. This may involve managing transportation, warehousing, and distribution networks, optimizing routes, and minimizing transportation costs.

Quality Assurance: work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure that materials meet quality standards and specifications. This includes implementing quality control processes, conducting inspections, and addressing any quality issues or non-conformities.

Process Improvement: leads continuous improvement initiatives to optimize materials management processes and enhance operational efficiency. This may involve implementing lean manufacturing principles, automation, technology upgrades, and workflow optimization.
Job Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.

Technical Experience: Minimum 5 years in a relevant experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably within the automotive or manufacturing industry.

Leadership Experience: 1-3 years, including progressively responsible leadership positions is essential, demonstrating the ability to manage teams, develop strategies, and drive results.

Automotive Industry Experience: extensive experience working in the automotive industry, preferably in parts manufacturing or related sectors. This experience provides a deep understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, quality standards, and customer requirements.

Manufacturing Experience: Experience working in a manufacturing environment, particularly in automotive parts manufacturing or a related industry, is highly desirable. This includes knowledge of production processes, inventory management, and logistics.

Experience in Materials Management: several years of experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain roles.
