Wilcox Door Service Inc. is a certified Indigenous-owned company and a trusted commercial and industrial overhead door, loading dock, and gate systems service provider in the GTA since 1912.
We install, service, and maintain overhead doors, loading dock equipment, high-speed doors, and gate systems for warehouses, logistics, and industrial facilities.
We are seeking Service Technician Apprentices to begin a hands-on industrial service career, learning directly from experienced unionized Lead Service Technicians — and earning full union membership.
The Role – Service Technician Apprentice (GTA)
As a Service Technician Apprentice, you will work alongside unionized Lead Service Technicians, assisting with installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead doors and loading dock systems.
This role provides practical, on-the-job experience, mentorship, and the opportunity to join the union while building skills for a long-term career in industrial service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist unionized Lead Service Technicians with service, installation, and repair of overhead doors and loading dock equipment around the GTA.
- Learn to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
- Support accurate service documentation and reporting
- Maintain tools, parts, and service vehicle readiness
- Follow all union and company safety protocols on client sites
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule as training progresses
- Gain mentorship and guidance from experienced union technicians
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Interest in starting a career in industrial service or mechanical trades
- Physically able to work at heights and in industrial environments
- Strong mechanical aptitude or curiosity
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Valid Ontario driver’s license is an asset
- Willingness to learn and follow structured on-the-job training
- Ability to pass a criminal background check (if needed)
Assets:
- Experience in mechanical, construction, or industrial environments
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Previous coursework or technical training in trades or mechanical systems
