Position Summary:
The Head Carpenter / Assistant Site Superintendent supports the Site Superintendent in overseeing day-to-day construction activities while leading carpentry crews and coordinating site operations. This role combines hands-on carpentry expertise with leadership, scheduling, quality control, and site coordination to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise carpentry crews and subcontractors on site
- Assist the Site Superintendent with daily site management and project coordination
- Coordinate construction activities to maintain schedules and milestones
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Perform and oversee framing, finishing, formwork, and general carpentry tasks as required
- Ensure work meets quality standards and building code requirements
- Conduct site inspections and identify deficiencies or safety concerns
- Support material ordering, deliveries, and inventory management
- Maintain site cleanliness, organization, and productivity
- Assist with project scheduling and sequencing of trades
- Monitor progress and provide updates to the Site Superintendent and project team
- Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures
- Support client, consultant, and municipal site visits as needed
Qualifications:
- Red Seal Carpenter (preferred) or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of carpentry experience with leadership responsibilities
- Experience in residential, multifamily, or wood-frame construction
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and building codes
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
- Proficient with construction software and Microsoft Office (asset)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Pay: $90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
