Outdoor Programs Supervisor (Full Time)

Salary: $48,786/yr - $60,982/yr

Post-secondary education in recreation, education or other related field
Significant experience counselling and leading camp activities, including curriculum-based outdoor learning programs, family camping programs, and adult camp experiences.
Willingness to represent Camp Chief Hector and YMCA Camping publicly and at all times
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
Other certifications are an asset. For example, Wilderness First Responder, CUI / ACCT facilitator certifications, Paddle Canada canoeing certifications, Swift Water Rescue, National Lifesaving Society, etc.

Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
Class 4 or 5 Alberta drivers license and ability to drive staff, participants and items. Ability to drive a trailer is also an asset

Duties and Responsibilities include:
Assist the Outdoor Education and Weekend Manager in overseeing year-round operations at Camp Chief Hector
Support recruitment efforts including completing interviews and attending hiring fairs
Hire, train and provide performance management for seasonal staff and direct reports
Help with managing the camp budget and purchasing equipment and supply inventories
Maintain, research, plan and design high quality program options
Be part of the rotating “site supervisor” on call duties. This includes evening, overnight and early morning support of incidents and individuals. This on call role will deal with many calls per shift in the spring and summer seasons
Provide strong leadership within the full CCHY team, including providing direct support to the Summer Camp as needed
Assist with School Bookings, Weekend Program participant registration and year-round group booking requests.
Provide quality leadership, implementation, guidance, and resources in the areas of camp counsellor training, camper care, and safe site usage
Ensure that YMCA Camp Counsellors and Facilitators are providing safe and engaging programs while following YMCA policies and procedures
Oversee and/or complete daily camp duties, camper supervision, and be in ratio when needed
Role model positive, constructive behavior when communicating with staff, campers, teachers, and families in any YMCA or offsite venue
Be able and willing to lead communication with parents, campers, membership services staff, and other YMCA staff and external stakeholders
Complete all required administrative tasks, including Banquet Event Ordering, pre-arrival communications, invoicing, financial assistance, group scheduling, and supporting the Administrative Department as needed
Assist with fund development activities specific to Camp Chief Hector priorities
Actively develop your staff team utilizing a strength-based approach and by engaging in regular conversation about their performance
Support skilled resource areas and teams including Higher Ground, Waterfront and Horses, with an expectation of being able to support the facilitation in each of these areas.
Work with the Community Engagement team to build marketing materials and external communications with camper families, and parents
Maintain strong connections with our key partners in your community. Actively participate in committees, surveys, working groups, and on boards as the opportunities arise
