Gate Gourmet, the world’s largest provider of catering and provisioning services for the airline industry is hiring a full time second cook.
We are looking for active and dynamic individuals to support our team located at the Winnipeg International Airport.
These positions are represented by a labor union and are covered by one or more collective bargaining agreements.
Some of the duties will include:
- Preparing and cooking various food items according to recipes
- Observing and enforcing strict requirements with regards to food safety
- Sautéing, poaching, baking, grilling and sauce preparation
- Working with broilers, fryers, grills, ovens and stove-top cooking
We require:
- At least 2 years’ experience cooking in a high volume institutional catering environment
- Read, write and follow food specifications and menu guidelines in English
- Able to handle pork, poultry, meat and fish products
- Culinary degree or cooking certification will be an asset
- Own transportation (Isolated location)
- Availability to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays (facility works 24/7)
- Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move product, equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds
- Be able to regularly stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during shifts of 8 + hours
