Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Estimator who is committed to quality, accuracy, and professional success. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing detailed cost estimates and proposals for tooling and manufacturing projects while supporting the sales and program management teams.
Position Summary
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely quotations for new fixture packages, engineering changes (ECOs), and related manufacturing projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, blueprint interpretation, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare professional and detailed cost estimates and proposals for new builds and ECOs
- Review and interpret customer RFQs, statements of work (SOWs), blueprints, specifications, and customer standards
- Gather supplier quotations and analyze material, labor, outsourcing, and production costs
- Compute costs by evaluating labor requirements, materials, and project timelines
- Identify and resolve discrepancies within RFQs and customer lineups
- Collaborate with sales to establish quotation priorities and meet deadlines
- Maintain and update RFQ logs and quote databases daily
- Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and submitted on time
- Communicate proactively regarding any delays in quotation timelines
- Participate in project kickoff meetings and capacity planning activities
- Monitor exchange rates and assist with financing calculations and long-term agreements (LTAs)
- Utilize CAD software to review and evaluate part designs
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating processes and costing accuracy
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in tooling, manufacturing, or a related industry
- Post-secondary education in engineering, manufacturing, business, or a related field preferred
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with CAD software and the ability to manipulate CAD files for part evaluation
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
