To support this goal, the Peace River Mental Health & Addiction department has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse/Psych Nurse. In this role, you will be supporting psychiatry services to provide mental health assessment and treatment. This role will review referrals, triage and provide case coordination, crisis intervention & consultation to clients experiencing psychological, emotional, social, substance misuse or behavioral difficulties. To be successful in this role, you will have strong organization skills and thrive on being self-directed in your work. Eligible UNA employees & managers may apply for UNA RCIF for recruitment incentives for remote worksites: up to $20,000 per year, for up to 2 years (maximum $40,000), relocation expenses: $7,500 for moves of 100 - 299 km within Alberta; $10,000 for moves of 300+ km within Alberta; $12,500 for out-of-province moves and professional development funding (Up to $5,000 per employee). In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Recovery Alberta currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant addiction and mental health experience, preferably in a community setting. Critical thinking skills, working knowledge on the management of concurrent disorders and medical co-morbidities, and the principles of chronic disease management and recovery are required. Advanced knowledge and skill in the areas of evidenced-based assessment and treatment of mental illness and addiction is required. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and seek consultation when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset. Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community and agency stakeholders as well as clients and families. Knowledge of local Indigenous communities and experience in Indigenous culture.
