Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Jet Boat Captain to operate high-powered vessels through the Reversing Falls Rapids in Saint John, New Brunswick—one of Canada’s most unique and thrilling tidal environments. This is an exciting opportunity with an urgent start, offering the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic marine setting while delivering exceptional experiences to our guests.
As a Captain, you will be responsible for the safe and professional operation of our jet boats, navigating powerful tidal currents, ensuring the safety of guests and crew, and contributing to a memorable adventure tour experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a commercial jet boat through tidal rapids, strong currents, and ever-changing weather conditions.
- Continuously monitor environmental and water conditions, adjusting the trip plan as necessary to maintain safety.
- Conduct pre-trip safety briefings, ensuring full compliance with all marine regulations.
- Maintain passenger and crew safety, responding to emergencies in accordance with established procedures.
- Engage and interact with guests in a professional and friendly manner, providing excellent service throughout the tour.
- Conduct regular vessel checks, maintain operational logs, and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Participate in safety drills, training exercises, and ongoing crew development.
- Monitor fuel levels and supplies, ensuring timely refueling and restocking of the vessel.
- Mentor and support deck crew, emphasizing safety standards, operational procedures, and guest service.
- Report any incidents, hazards, or irregularities immediately.
- Foster a calm, collaborative, and team-oriented work environment.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience operating jet boats or similar high-performance vessels (asset).
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) with SDV-BS endorsement (required).
- Marine Basic First Aid (required).
- Valid Marine Medical Certificate (required).
- Radio Operator Certificate – Marine (ROC-M) (required).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage guests and manage crew.
- Knowledge of Reversing Falls Rapids and water marina area
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and troubleshoot problems on the go.
- Highly organized, dependable, and responsible in all aspects of the role.
- A people-first mindset with a professional, approachable demeanor.
- Comfortable operating in challenging tidal conditions.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Experience:
