SUMMARY
The Planner is responsible for negotiation, planning, procurement, and continuity of supply for assigned commodities utilizing the MRP system. This role is critical in helping to assure the Company meets sales and service objectives in a timely and effective manner. The incumbent will work closely with all cross functional teams including the production management team, program management, engineering, and procurement. The Buyer/Planner reports directly to the Director of Supply Chain Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize system to generate and adjust purchase orders in support of MRP requirements and effectively communicates areas of concern to appropriate departments, individuals, and suppliers.
- Interface within a cross functional team, regularly meeting with Program Management, Production, Engineering, and Quality.
- Assist in the maintenance of policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities.
- Maintain MRP system purchasing data and its integrity.
- Support the preparation, analysis, and/or publishing of purchasing-related metrics, reports and scorecards.
- Monitor and review production plan often to ensure we meet On-Time delivery requirements for our customers/product builds.
- Ensure SYSPRO parameters are maintained by monitoring minimum, maximum, safety, and current inventory levels; making recommendations to management for adjustments to levels per need.
- Create and manage work orders through an ERP system; responsible for the proper configuration, planning and documentation of products and processes manufactured at Vexos.
- Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company requirements are met and that supplier is aware of their performance.
- Responsible for ensuring that any outstanding audit requirements, including NCAR’s (corrective actions required from audit results) are followed through in an expedient and timely manner and to the due dates specified.
- Other duties as required and assigned by the SCM Director, SCM Team Lead or designate.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience with purchasing electronic commodities in a manufacturing environment – a must
- Certification in CPP, PMAC and/or APICS an asset.
- Solid understanding of MRP
- Knowledge of Syspro 7 ERP system (an asset) or other similar ERP systems
SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA)
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision
- Comfortable multi-tasking and able to deliver results under pressure to meet tight deadlines in a very fast paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excel skills (V-Lookup, Pivot Tables, IF Statements) & other Microsoft Office Program applications
LOCATION
- The position location is based in Markham, Ontario facilities (Building A at 195 Royal Crest Court and/or Building B at 3930 14th Avenue)
- Incumbent must be open to working at both facilities as business and operational needs dictate
WORK HOURS
The normal hours of work for this position is Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm however a flex schedule is available based on team coverage and business needs within the core hours of 9 am to 4 pm. Most work is required on-site/in person however occasionally there may be opportunities to work remotely or telework/off-site based on team and business requirements and prior supervisory approval, and this may vary based on the department's critical operational and scheduling needs.
