Leadership & Culture
- Serve as the on-site HSE leader and trusted advisor to leaders and employees
- Champion a proactive safety culture focused on hazard prevention
- Support leaders in driving accountability for safety performance
Program Management & Improvement
- Implement and sustain HSE programs and systems
- Analyze trends and drive targeted improvement initiatives
- Lead site-level safety initiatives aligned with company goals
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Alberta OHS and environmental regulations
- Maintain documentation and complete required reporting
- Act as the site contact for inspections and regulatory agencies
Incident & Risk Management
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Track trends and implement corrective actions
- Oversee site inspections, audits, and hazard mitigation
Training & Engagement
- Ensure proper onboarding and ongoing HSE training
- Lead safety meetings and promote workforce engagement
Collaboration
- Work cross-site with U.S. operations to align best practices
- Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of HSE experience in industrial, mining, or heavy operations, preferred
- Site-based leadership experience strongly preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of Alberta safety and environmental regulations
- Experience with incident investigations and safety systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel occasionally
- CRSP or similar certification is an asset
- Combination of office and industrial site environment
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, equipment, and physical activity
- Must be able to meet physical demands of the role
