As we continue to grow, we are looking to hire a driven and relationship-focused Business Development Strategist to help expand our presence across Alberta’s industrial sector. Since 1993, Ed-Lam has built a strong reputation for quality workmanship, safety, and reliability in piping, fabrication, mechanical, and maintenance services.
We are looking for someone who understands industrial construction and can identify opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and help position Ed-Lam for continued growth in oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, manufacturing, and industrial maintenance markets.
Position Overview
The Business Development Strategist will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, maintaining and growing existing client relationships, and supporting long-term strategic growth initiatives. This role will work closely with company leadership, estimating, and operations teams to align client needs with Ed-Lam’s capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies to support company growth goals
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients
- Identify upcoming project opportunities, shutdowns, maintenance scopes, and capital projects
- Attend client meetings, networking events, trade shows, and industry functions
- Coordinate introductions and meetings with owners, EPCs, and prime contractors
- Support proposal preparation, bid strategy, and client presentations
- Maintain awareness of market conditions, competitor activity, and industry trends
- Assist in developing marketing materials, capability presentations, and company branding initiatives
- Collaborate with operations and estimating teams to ensure successful project handoffs
- Track leads, opportunities, and client activity through CRM or reporting systems
- Help establish long-term strategic partnerships within the industrial sector
Goals & Performance Expectations
- Expand Ed-Lam’s client base and market presence throughout Alberta
- Generate qualified project opportunities and increase bid invitations
- Strengthen relationships with existing clients and key stakeholders
- Increase awareness of Ed-Lam’s capabilities and reputation within the industry
- Support sustainable revenue growth through strategic client engagement
- Contribute to long-term business planning and diversification efforts
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years of B2B sales, business development, account management, or customer-facing experience
- Experience in business development, sales, project management, or estimating within industrial construction or related industries
- Strong understanding of industrial contracting, fabrication, piping, maintenance, and turnaround work
- Existing relationships within Alberta’s industrial sector are considered a strong asset
- Excellent communication, networking, and presentation skills
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Alberta as required
